The dosimeter LED's status and color can let you know something requires further investigation.
If you're dosimeter LED is flashing amber at various timeframes, there are four main reasons this is occurring:
- The dose threshold is exceeded: Flashes twice every ten seconds.
- The battery is low: Flashes once every ten seconds or stays on.
- There is a malfunction: Flashes once every three seconds.
- The device is rebooting after a firmware update.
We will address how to deal with each item below.
Dose Threshold Exceeded
If the light flashes twice every 10 seconds you have exceeded one of the dose threshold values set in the account settings. You should contact the RSO to review your dose data to investigate the exceedance. To clear the alert, it must be acknowledged in the Web UI, under the Alerts menu. Click here for more information.
Low Battery
If the light flashes once every 10 seconds, the device battery is low. You can confirm this by checking the device battery level after syncing with the mobile app, or by looking at the Web UI in the devices menu to see the battery level. Devices that need the battery replaced must be sent to RDC. Don't worry, there is plenty of time for us to send a free replacement device first, so that device wearers will not be affected. Please click here for more information regarding the exchange of battery low devices.
Malfunction
If the light flashes once every 3 seconds, the device is malfunctioning and must be exchanged with RDC. Please click here for more information regarding the exchange of malfunctioning devices.
Firmware
An issue may arise where the programming or algorithm on the device requires an update. If you see the status LED light with a steady amber light for several seconds, it may be rebooting and loading an update. Wait five minutes and try to use the device again.
