What is the best way to sync dosimeters?

There are a few configurations to choose from depending on your workflow.

Syncing Dosimeters

The dosimeters must be manually synchronized with the mobile app to transfer data back and forth between the dosimeters and the data platform/servers.

To do this you must have the app downloaded to a mobile device.

After initial configuration (Please see the Quick Start Guide) you will synchronize your devices using the blue sync button on the back of the dosimeter to initiate the Bluetooth broadcast and then touch the 'Start Synchronization' in the mobile app.  The app will find the dosimeter and perform the information exchange. The distance between the dosimeter and the mobile device must be within Bluetooth communication range.

PRESS AND HOLDpress start synch

NOTE: A dosimeter can sync to multiple devices.  A dosimeter does not become tied to any particular device.  So long as the device meets the prerequisites (operating system, Bluetooth version, etc.), the dosimeter can sync with it regardless of syncing with any other device.

Syncing Options

When setting up your program, you will need to decide who is performing the synchronization action and what mobile device(s) you want to sync with.

You can allow individual wearers to sync their own dosimeters, or an admin or RSO can perform the action for all dosimeters.

You can choose to sync to a designated mobile device(s) or allow wearers NetDose access to sync on their own mobile device(s).

Wearer Syncing

Allowing the wearers to sync their dosimeters frees the program administrator to manage other duties or aspects of the program.  Administrators will receive notifications if a dosimeter is not synced as expected, enabling them to work together with the wearer to resolve any required actions.

Admin Syncing

Designating personnel to read all the badges ensures that badges are read in a timely matter. This works well in programs where all devices are turned into a central location at the end of the work period.

Common Mobile Device(s)

Under a common device program, users would sync to a specific mobile device(s) or tablet(s) to transfer dose data to the server.  This could be a device kept alongside the dosimeters or placed in a designated area accessible to wearers, solely dedicated to syncing dosimeters. In this case, wearers could sync their dosimeters to the common device without additional support. This configuration avoids compatibility issues between the mobile app and the mobile device(s) because the device type is defined, and the software versions are controlled.

Wearer Mobile Device(s)

Wearers can download the mobile app to their own mobile devices and sync at the expected read interval without interaction with the program administrator.  This allows a great deal of freedom and flexibility. Wearers will also be able to view their dose information on their mobile device whenever they choose.  Administrators that use this configuration must ensure the mobile devices of their wearers meet the prerequisite software version in order to use the mobile app. Admins must grant wearers access to the NetDose platform so they can log into the mobile and app and the Web User Interface.

You can experiment with the above options to see what fits best.  You can have a mixture of all four types. The system is very flexible to meet your needs, you are not locked into one way of doing things.
