How do I set dosimeter read settings?

Dosimeter read settings define the level of detail contained in your dose information and notify users when dosimeters are not being read at the expected time.

Overview

In the NetDose Program, Administrators have the ability to set dosimeter read settings at different locations within the software. These settings determine the length of time between each dose data point and how often the system will expect the device to be synchronized with the mobile app. Whenever an expected read time is missed, a notification will be generated and emailed to users.

TIP: If you are receiving too many missed read notifications from NetDose, but you feel your dosimeters are read timely enough to meet your needs, you can increase the expected amount of time between reads and reduce the number of notifications you receive.

Editing Read Settings

The read settings can be changed from the 'Service Configurations' tab, which can be found in four different Navigation menus found on the left side of the screen.

We will show where to find the settings at each location and how to edit them and then discuss the settings in more detail.  If you want to skip ahead to the settings detail, please click here.

To find the 'Service configuration' menu on each navigation menu item, please see below:

  1. Account profile: Changes made here will apply globally to all users, devices, and departments by default. Customer profile
To make changes, click the "Edit" button in the upper right corner:  account edit
  2. Departments: Changes made here can be applied to the user's and devices in the department only. To edit, click on the department and then click the edit button in the pop-up window: Department2
When configuring departments, you can choose to set department specific read settings or to use the settings under the account profile.  This is done by checking or unchecking the 'same as' box near the top of the menu.  When the box is unchecked, you can edit the options for department level read settings:
    Same as account3
  3. Users: Changes made here can apply to individual users. Users2
When configuring users, you can choose to set user specific read settings or to use the settings under the account profile, or if they are in a department, the department level settings.  This is done by checking or unchecking the 'same as' box near the top of the menu.  When the box is unchecked, you can edit the options for user level thresholds:
same as department  Same as account4
To edit, click on the user and then the edit button in the pop-up window: user edit2
  4. Devices: Changes made here can apply to a specific device.
    Devices2
When configuring devices, you can choose to set device specific settings or to use the settings for the wearer (user). This is done by checking or unchecking the 'same as' box near the top of the menu.  When the box is unchecked, you can edit the options for device level read settings:
    same as wearer
To edit, click on the device, then the three dots (dots) in the pop-up window, then click 'Edit': device edit

The tiered control feature allows for customization at each level of use, providing flexibility instead of a one-size-fits-all approach. Read settings can vary depending on the specific type of work being performed and the individuals involved. For instance, the global account level settings can serve as the default read settings for all users not assigned to a department, while different read settings can be applied to specific departments and selected users within those departments.

Read Settings

Now that we know where to find the settings and how to edit them, lets discuss the settings in more detail.

Read Frequency

You can choose to read your dosimeters daily, weekly, or monthly depending on your needs.  Note that the system will not automatically read dosimeters. You must manually connect (using Bluetooth) your dosimeters with the mobile app in order to download dose information from the device to the server.  The read frequency will determine when notifications are sent if the dosimeter is not read at the expected interval.  For more information regarding notifications, please click here

Under the 'Service configuration tab, scroll down until you see the section titled 'Read parameters'. First, select your frequency from the drop-down menu:  select frequency

Depending on the option you choose, additional fields may appear to better define exactly when you wish to read the device:

TIP: If you feel like you are receiving too many missed read notifications, you can increase the read frequency to reduce the number of messages while still reading at an interval that is convenient for you.

Daily Dose vs Detailed Dose

The dosimeter can capture two types of dose information:

  1. Daily Dose: The dosimeter will always capture 24 hours of dose as a single daily dose amount. The dosimeter can store over a year's worth of daily dose information. This is by default and cannot be changed.
  2. Detailed Dose: You can choose to turn on detailed dose information and receive additional data about when doses occur. This is completely separate from the Daily Dose data and does not affect it in any way. You can choose from several time increments for recording data - hourly, every 15 minutes, every 5 minutes, or every minute. Storage capacity for detailed dose information is limited, depending on the sampling rate selected. When using the detailed dose option, data must be downloaded in a timely fashion, or the data could be overwritten. For more information, please click here.Picture22

NOTE: Collecting detailed dose data in increments less than one hour can shorten the dosimeter battery life.  The smaller the increment, the more the battery will be drained.

Be sure to save your changes before you leave the menu by clicking the red save button.

Daily Dose and Detailed Dose information can both be viewed in the NetDose Web UI and exported as a report from the Reports navigation menu.  For more information on reporting, please click here.
