How do I add users to NetDose? (Add Single User)

This article will provide a walkthrough to add a user to your NetDose account.

NOTE: You will need to be a NetDose Administrator to add users.  Click here for more information regarding user role capabilities.

NOTE: This will NOT add digital dosimeter devices to your account, only users of the NetDose Dosimetry Service.  If you wish to add dosimeters to your account, please click here.

Step 1: Log into the NetDose Web UI

Step 3: Click the 'Create user' text on the right side of the screen.

click create

Step 4: Complete the information fields for the new user in the create user window.

NOTE: The user's role and fields marked with an asterisk are required. Depending on the user role chosen, certain fields may not be accessible, and the required fields may vary. Once you have completed the mandatory fields, the save button will become active. All other fields are optional. If you are not ready to fill out all the information at the moment, there's no need to worry. You can save your progress and return later to add or edit the information.

CAUTION: Usernames should be unique to individuals. It is important to avoid using departmental or shared email addresses or other shared identifiers as usernames. This is crucial for ensuring that actions taken in NetDose, such as administrative controls, alert acknowledgements, and dose modification requests, can be traced back to specific individuals. Using unique usernames allows for accountability and traceability within the system.

The window has three separate tabs to explore that will be broken down into more detail as we visit them:

  1. General - An overview of the user's profile information.
  2. Dosimetry - Information about the user's dose calculations and assigned dosimeters.
  3. Service Configurations - Information about the dosimeter settings and dose thresholds.

The tabs are at the top of the create user window and to navigate between them, simply click on the text of the tab.

click headings

Step 4.1: Complete the General information fields.

The General tab provides a comprehensive view of the user, including their name, role, contact information, and personal details, including pregnancy declaration dates.create user edits

  1. Select the user's role (Administrator, Supervisor or Wearer) from the drop-down menu.  If you are not sure which role to select, click here.

  2. Enter the user's Last, First and Middle name. This combination should be unique within the account.

  3. Enter the user's username.  This is created/selected by the Administrator but must be unique across the entire NetDose system. Entering a user's email address as the username can ensure uniqueness.

  4. Select Department from the drop-down menu (available for Users with the role Supervisor or Wearer).  For more information on Departments, click here.

  5. Checking the box for NetDose Access will initiate the user NetDose login process when the user profile is saved; the user will receive an email with password creation instructions. More details on granting access to the NetDose Web UI can be found here.

  6. Enter the user's email address and phone number.  Check the 'Send email notifications' box if you wish to send the user email notifications and alerts. More information about notifications and alerts can be found here.

  7. Enter the user's birth date and gender.

  8. Enter the user's ID type and number.  If you wish to keep a record of a specific type of identification (driver's license, passport, etc.) you can do so here. You can also click the "Add another ID" text to create multiple ID fields.

  9. If a radiation worker has a declared pregnancy, the declaration date can be entered here.  Click the 'Add one more date' text to add multiple declaration fields if required.

Step 4.2: Complete the Dosimetry Fields

At the top of the create user window, click the 'Dosimetry' text.  This section contains information regarding the Effective Dose Equivalent (EDE) calculation and dose history.  create user edits2

  1. Select the EDE calculation type you would like to use.  EDE reflects, based on the location of the worn dosimeter, the user's overall exposure risk. EDE accounts for exposure to different organs, each adjusted to its sensitivity to radiation.  For more information, please contact your Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or regulatory authority. For more information about EDE calculations please click here.

    1. None: No EDE calculation is to be provided.
    2. Collar: EDE calculation based on a dosimeter worn on the collar.  EDE = 0.3X the accumulated collar deep dose.
    3. Collar and torso: EDE calculation based on a pair of dosimeters worn on both the collar and torso.  EDE = 1.5X the accumulated torso deep dose + 0.04X accumulated collar deep dose.

  2. Enter the lifetime history dose information in units of mrem for previously accumulated (before NetDose use) for deep, eye, and shallow doses.

NOTE: If an EDE is required, the user EDE setting above must also match the configuration of the assigned dosimeters.  For example, if option C above is selected, the user must have two dosimeters assigned, one for the torso and one for the collar.  Both dosimeters need the 'Use for EDE calculation' option selected under the device's general settings.  Please click here for more information.

Step 4.3:  Complete the Service Configuration Fields

At the top of the create user window, click the 'Service configurations' text. This section contains information regarding the acquisition parameters of the dosimeter.  You can also set dose thresholds that will trigger alerts.  For more information on using Alerts click here. create user edits3

  1. To utilize the settings that have been configured under the customer account information, simply check the box. These customer account settings are applied universally to all users. For further details, click here. If you prefer to define specific settings for individual users, uncheck the box and you will be able to edit the settings.

  2. Select the 'Read frequency' from the drop-down menu.

  3. Select the Detail dose granularity from the drop-down. For more information regarding the 'Read parameters' please click here.

  4. Enter the user dose thresholds including the threshold period, deep dose and shallow dose.  For more information click here.

  5. Select the color of the badge label you wish to print.
